Excess Hair in women is known as Hirsutism, it can develop on many areas of the body such as the face, neck, chest, tummy, thighs or buttocks. Hirsutism is caused by an excess of male hormones called androgens in your body, or by your body being more sensitive to these hormones. It is often not clear why this happens however it has been linked to conditions such as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and Menopause. If you feel your hair growth is abnormal it is advised to contact your GP to see if there are any underlying health issues.
